We are a locally-owned Calgary garage organization company founded in 2020 with one mission: to give Calgary homeowners their garages back. Learn who we are, how we work, and why over 600 Calgary families have trusted us with their spaces.
GarageScape was founded in 2020 by Calgary homeowners who spent years noticing the same thing in their neighbourhood and among friends: garages that had become completely dysfunctional. Cars parked outside in Calgary winters. Sports equipment taking hours to find. Workshop spaces rendered unusable by accumulated clutter. The problem was not that Calgary homeowners did not care. It was that organizing a garage well requires time, expertise, and the right storage systems - and most people had only one of the three.
Every person on our team was born or has lived in Calgary long enough to understand what living here actually requires of a garage. We know the equipment a Calgary family accumulates: winter tires, hockey gear, camping gear for the mountains, snow blowers, and the seasonal rotation that happens every April and October. We designed our service specifically for the Calgary context, not as a generic organization service that happens to operate here.
GarageScape grew from two people to a team of six entirely through referrals. We have never run a significant advertising campaign. Our first 200 customers came from word of mouth in Calgary communities like Evanston, Mahogany, Signal Hill, and Brentwood. When you work in a neighbour's garage and they can see the result from the street, you get calls. That is how we built this company and it is the standard we hold ourselves to on every job.
Most of the service industry has high turnover. GarageScape does not. Our crew members stay because the work is genuinely satisfying, the culture is respectful, and we pay properly. When you book with us, you are likely to get the same crew member on a follow-up visit who was here before. That consistency matters to our customers, particularly in established Calgary communities where homeowners want familiar faces in their homes. Our full service page describes what every crew member is trained to do.
Every GarageScape job follows the same four-step process, whether it is a single-car garage in Bowness or a triple-car garage in Springbank. Consistency is what produces reliable results.
We begin every project with a formal assessment: measuring the space, documenting what is stored there, identifying the usage patterns, and understanding the household's priorities. This is not a quick look around. A proper assessment considers where natural light enters, where the garage gets coldest in a Calgary winter, what the stud layout is for shelving anchors, and how traffic flows through the space when both cars are inside. The plan produced at the end of the assessment drives every decision for the rest of the project. Skipping or rushing this step is the most common reason DIY garage organization fails to produce lasting results. This is also the stage where we provide the written fixed-price quote for our full service.
On service day, everything comes out of the garage and gets sorted into keep, donate, and discard. We do this with the homeowner present for all ambiguous decisions. Our crew members are trained to ask the right questions rather than make assumptions: "When did you last use this?" "Is there a specific reason this is staying?" "Do you want to donate this or would a family member want it?" The goal is to remove everything that does not belong in the garage without discarding anything you want to keep. Items for donation go to Calgary charities - we handle the transport. Items for disposal go to City of Calgary eco-centres or appropriate recycling facilities. Our dedicated garage decluttering service page covers this phase in full detail.
With the garage empty and clean, we install the storage systems identified in the assessment. All shelving is anchored into studs with load-rated hardware. We do not use drywall anchors for heavy storage - Calgary garages regularly hold 40-gallon bins of hockey gear and full sets of winter tires, and these loads must be properly supported. Wall rail systems are installed level with professional tools. Overhead racks are attached to ceiling joists, not drywall. Everything is installed to hold the actual loads your garage will experience, not just display loads. We also add the small details that make a big difference: rubber shelf mats to stop items sliding in a Chinook vibration, bin labelling holders that allow labels to be swapped as seasons change, and hooks rated for the specific weight of the items they will carry.
Items from the keep pile are organized into the zone system. Each zone has a clear purpose and everything within it is placed in a logical order: most frequently used items at front and easy reach, less-used items at the back or in overhead storage. Every bin and shelf section gets a label. Large zones get a small sign. We then do a full walkthrough with the homeowner, explaining the system, demonstrating the seasonal rotation plan, and answering every question. Before we leave, we post a zone map inside the garage door so all household members can find things without asking. The last thing we do is confirm the 30-day workmanship guarantee in writing. Related services including custom storage solutions and garage cleaning are available as add-ons to any service booking.
Every shelving installation, wall system, and overhead rack we install is guaranteed for 30 days from service date. If any component fails under normal use, we return to fix it at no charge. We have activated this guarantee fewer than five times in five years of operation, but it exists because we stand behind the quality of our installations completely.
If you are not satisfied with the organization system when we complete the walkthrough, we work with you on the spot until you are. We do not leave a job with an unhappy homeowner. In five years of operation, we have never left a job with an outstanding complaint. If your needs change or you think of something important after we leave, call us and we will discuss options.
Your written quote is the price you pay. We do not charge by the hour and we do not add surcharges on service day for a job that took longer than expected. The fixed price is set after the assessment when we fully understand the scope. If you add services on service day, those are quoted and approved by you before work begins. No surprises.
We carry $2 million in general commercial liability insurance. If anything is damaged during our service, our insurance covers it. Every crew member is background-checked before their first job. Our insurance certificate is available on request for customers who need documentation for strata or property management approval. In five years of operation we have had zero property damage claims.
"I specifically wanted a local Calgary company, not a franchise. GarageScape was exactly that. The crew understood our garage - the Chinook temperature swings, the hockey gear, the mountain camping equipment. They organized it like people who actually live here, not a generic script."
"The fixed price quote was what convinced me to book. I called three companies and two of them quoted hourly. GarageScape gave me a written fixed price after a proper assessment. No surprises on service day - the invoice matched the quote exactly, including GST."
"It mattered to me that they donate properly. GarageScape told me they were taking a truckload to Habitat ReStore and offered to give me a rough donation value list for my taxes. That level of professionalism and community awareness is exactly what I want from a Calgary business."
Since 2020. We started as a two-person operation and have grown to a team of six serving the full Calgary metro area. We have organized over 600 Calgary garages in five years, growing entirely through customer referrals.
100% locally owned and operated in Calgary. Not a franchise. Every crew member lives in Calgary, every decision is made locally, and every dollar stays in the Calgary economy.
$2 million in general commercial liability insurance, WCB Alberta coverage for all crew members, background checks on all hires, and Alberta Business Registry registration. Insurance certificate available on request.
Yes. A 30-day workmanship guarantee on all installations, a same-day satisfaction guarantee, and a fixed-price quote guarantee. Full details are provided in writing at the end of every service visit.
We donate to Habitat for Humanity ReStore on 58th Ave SE, Inn from the Cold, and the Calgary Food Bank's Move for Hunger program. Since 2020, we have donated over 3,000 items from customer cleanouts that would otherwise have gone to the landfill.
After five years and 600 Calgary garages, we have a clear picture of what separates a good organization experience from a frustrating one. These are the specific ways we try to be different.
Some Calgary garage companies are essentially shelving salespeople who organize as a secondary service. Our approach is the opposite. The assessment comes first. We identify what your garage actually needs. Sometimes the best solution costs $200 in new hardware and two hours of labour. Sometimes it requires a full custom shelving installation. We recommend what solves the problem, not what generates the most revenue. Customers notice this when the quote is less than they expected for a clean, functional result. We have turned down upsells dozens of times when a simpler solution served the customer better.
The most common complaint about garage organization services is jobs that end mid-project. The crew leaves, the garage is in a state of partial organization, and the homeowner is left to finish. This does not happen with GarageScape. We do not leave a job until the garage is finished, labelled, and walked through with the homeowner. If a job runs longer than expected, we stay. The fixed-price quote covers the complete job, not the number of hours we estimated. In five years, we have never left a Calgary garage half-organized. This is a basic professional standard but it is, apparently, not universal in the industry.
A garage holds a family's history as much as its current life. Inherited tools, sports equipment from childhood, decades of carefully-kept items. Our crew members are trained to handle every item as if it belongs to their own family. Nothing is tossed carelessly. Nothing is treated as junk without explicit confirmation from the homeowner. Sentimental items are set aside and discussed. Donation items are handled properly - not dumped but taken to organizations that will actually use them. After 600 Calgary garages, we understand that behind every pile of boxes is a family story and we take that seriously.
The organization systems that fail within six months are almost always designed for an idealized version of the homeowner's life rather than the actual one. A perfectly-organized tool wall makes no sense for a homeowner who works on cars occasionally and does not want to spend 20 minutes putting tools back exactly right after every use. A hockey gear station only works if it is positioned so gear actually goes there after practice, not across the garage from where the family enters. We design around real habits and realistic usage patterns. This is the design thinking that makes organization systems last years instead of months. See the full organization service for how this approach applies to a typical Calgary job.
GarageScape provides four core services, each available individually or as part of a combined visit. The most popular booking is the Full Organization service, which combines decluttering, cleaning, and storage installation in a single day.
The flagship service. A two-person crew handles everything from the initial sort to final labelling. Includes decluttering, zone creation, shelving installation, and a zone map. Available in three packages: Basic Sort ($199), Full Organization ($399-$650), and Premium with Shelving ($799+). Fixed-price quotes provided after free consultation.
A focused service for homeowners who need help with the sort and removal phase but have a functional organization system already in place. We handle the four-pile sort, donation transport to Calgary charities, and responsible disposal of items that cannot be donated. Starting at $199. The most popular stand-alone service for established Calgary communities where garages have accumulated 10 to 20 years of items.
Deep cleaning of the garage floor, walls, and surfaces. Includes floor sweep and mop, oil and road salt stain treatment, pressure washing (as an add-on), and wall and ceiling wipe-down. Best booked alongside a declutter or organization service when the empty garage allows proper floor and wall access. Starting at $149 for a single-car garage.
Custom storage system design and installation for Calgary homeowners who have already decluttered and organized but want a professional storage layout and proper hardware installation. We assess your space, recommend specific products suited to Calgary's climate, and install them properly. Starting at $249 for wall rail and basic shelving installation in a single-car garage.
GarageScape serves all Calgary communities across all four quadrants. Same-day service available in most areas when you call before noon. We also serve Airdrie, Okotoks, Cochrane, and Chestermere at a flat travel surcharge.
